Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is becoming very popular. It is a medical breakthrough for 2015 because it can induce collagen without injuring the top layer of skin. It has little to no side effects and recovery time of only a several days.
. Check out these 8 of microneedling benefits below.
- REDUCES FINE LINES AND WRINKLES
Facial wrinkles, thinning skin and sun damage is mainly caused by loss of collagen and elastin. Microneedling significantly improve these conditions by producing natural collagen and elastin. this results in reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and scars.
- PREMATURE SKIN AGEING
microneedling prevents premature skin ageing by triggering collagen and elastin growth. This will result in skin thickening and prevent collagen breakdown that can result in skin ageing.
Treating scars is the most popular topic. Microneedling is proven to improve or even fade out most types of scarring. microneedling surely benefits anyone who is suffering from a variety of scars including acne scars, surgical scars and even stretch marks.
- STRETCH MARKS
Stretch marks are similar to scars except stretch marks occur from rapid skin stretching. Although they are tougher to treat than regular scars. Many people have reported excellent results but more number of treatments are required. Microneedling breaks down stretch mark tissue and triggers collagen growth. this will eventually fade or reduce your stretch marks over several treatments.
Hyperpigmentation is triggered by unusual production of melanin by abnormal melanocytes. It generally occurs in people with darker complexion. It is brought about by acne, wounds and prolong exposure to sun. Microneedling helps reduce hyperpigmentation by shedding the top layer of skin and produce normal melanocytes. It also boosts the absorption of your topical skin lightening creams, thus speeding up the results.
Microneedling benefits acne by boosting the absorption of topical acne products directly into the acne area. this will help clear up your skin tremendously. Needle size of 0.25mm is highly recommended.
- LARGE PORES
Large pores are generally located on the nose and around the cheeks. Microneedling reduces the appearance of large pores by producing more collagen and thickening the skin.
- HAIR LOSS
Microneedling decreases hair loss by releasing endothelial growth factor that can promote hair growth, increase follicle size and promote thicker hair.
What is Micro-Needling?
Skin needling, also called microneedling therapy, collagen induction therapy (CIT), as the term indicates, means the use of needles or ‘microneedles’ to achieve a therapeutic effect. It is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.
The Micro Needling Procedure
The skin is cleaned and numbing cream may be applied to lessen discomfort. For better results we use a collagen-stimulating product like Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin-C serum or skin lightener for pigmentation during the procedure. A small handheld pen like device with a sterile, disposable tip with 12 tiny needles is then used to pierce the skin. Our needling pen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depth allow needles to pierce the skin’s layer at 90 degrees and increase the absorption of products. After the treatment, soothing Vitamin-C serum or Hyaluronic acid are used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.
How will I look after treatment?
Sometimes. Most people will experience mild redness and possibly some swelling. The same way you may feel with a mild sunburn. Effects may last for 24-48 hours and there may be pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Within several days to several weeks you will notice a smoother, brighter, and more radiant appearance, however, the full effects of the treatment do not appear until several months later.
What is the down time like?
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 48 hours. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with zinc based sunblock. The use of mineral makeup may be used after procedure.
Will it be painful?
Numbing cream can be applied prior to the treatment which drastically minimizes or eliminates any pain altogether.
Are there any risks?
The tiny pricking channels close within one hour, and because the procedure is performed under clinical conditions, the likelihood of infection occurring is extremely low.
How many treatments do I need and how often?
Micro-needling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended. The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage at the beginning Micro-needling can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc). Most people will begin to see results after the very first appointment.
Can micro-needling be performed for all skin types and colors?
Absolutely. It’s safe and effective for all types and colors of skin. There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.
What are the side effects?
There are virtually no negative side effects from the procedure. None of been reported in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide.
